CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Your choice of career will shape your life, so make sure you take the time to start looking at your options.

Many young South Africans only have limited access to reliable information on their options for education and training after school, careers and career pathways and employment and self-employment opportunities.
The aim of this page is to assist you in making informed choices about your (work)life and your future by providing career related information.

We have collected this information especially for young people under 35, regardless of whether you are still at school, studying, skilled, unskilled, unemployed or employed.

This is how the information is organised - There are 3 main categories with related sub-categories: Know Yourself, After School and Start a Business. In order to access more information for each section you will need to click on the category header. For example, if you scroll over and click on Know Yourself it will take you to a page where you can do a self-assessment test, as well as read more on careers/occupations in South Africa. After School

Describes the different options that are open to you after school – Study and Get a Job

For each of the options, there’s detailed info. Each section has loads of links and shortcuts to relevant information.

Start a Business

We decided to include information on starting a business under Career Guidance and Information because many young people do not consider the possibility of being their own boss as a career option when many, in fact, are business-minded. So, why don’t you have a look at the business information? You may find out that an idea or hobby or something you’re passionate about could be the beginning of a thriving business and all you needed was information to set you on the right path. Details
